OPEN DRESSAGE CHAMPIONSHIPS - 19/08/08

Hannah Whittingham and Wanni were delighted to qualify for the National Open Dressage Champs with a fab score at the Area competition, so we were all looking forward to a lovely day out at Draycott. Special thanks at this point to Lorna for sorting out our entry for us at very short notice - it was much appreciated.

Well not surprisingly the weather on the day was pants but Wanni did not let this bother her. She was exceptionally well behaved, and performed a beautiful test. We were all very pleased and were happy to be placed 10th in our arena.

ROSEBOWL ONE DAY EVENT - 11/05/08

Many congratulations to our Rosebowl team who won this competition! The team consisted of Hannah Whittingham, Katie Heath, Emma Rarity and Helen Dunning.

They all had a fab day.

Crewe and District have never won the rosebowl before since the competition began in 1959 so how brilliant to have won it at last.

After many hours waiting for the results and a few hiccups over the awarded time penalties.  It was all worth the wait, however.

Helen won her arena with Emma a very close second.
Hannah came second in her arena by 0.1 penalties
Hannah and Helen both had best dressage for their arenas.

Overall our team won by over 20 penalties.

We also had successes in the 2'6" class, with Ciara McLellan coming 6th in her arena, and Zoe McLellan coming 5th in hers.

Well done to everyone who took part!

AREA 5 TETRATHLON - 04/05/08
The newly formed Crewe & District Tetrathlon Team 'Racing Stripes' did themselves and the club proud today. In conditions which looked like it may be a wash out early on turned out to be fairly good in the end. The day started very early for Ciara, Eve, Nick and Zoe with Shooting first. The weekly practices at Corrie's certainly paid off as without exception all shot their best. Nick had the third best shooting score over all for the day. Next was the Riding which was indoor, incorporating a slip rail and a gate.  The slip rail was a worry for Eve and Ciara although in the end they both did brilliantly and managed to mount with no problems at all. Zoe and Nick both went clear and maintained maximum scores. The running was next and although the timing was tight everyone managed to get to the right place at the right time. The girl's all managed to get within a few seconds of each other coming in with very good times. All cleared the jump! Yes there was a log flagged in the running course, not quite the norm for tetrathlon. Finally the swimming where again every team member did better than expected. Zoe was a star getting Best Swim in the Minimus Girls. A great day was had by all, so tired but happy the team came 7th just outside the prizes with Zoe finishing 4th in her section.

Team spirits were high and we are now looking forward to training for the Area 2 Day Tetrathalon in June. Congratulations to all the team and here's to some hard training over the coming weeks!

TRIANGULAR DRESSAGE - 19/04/08

Thanks to all our members who took part in the 3rd and final leg of the Triangular Dressage.

The team of Helen Graham, Lucy Watts, Zoe McLellan and Willliam Blackshaw did a brilliant job and managed to pull back quite a few points for us.

Class 1 - Helen 2nd, William 4th, Zoe 6th.

Class 2 - Helen 3rd, William 6th.

We finished in 2nd place on the day and were 3rd overall after the 3 legs.

Also thanks to Emily & Gill Watts and Sandy Kenyon for their help on the day.

WINTER LEAGUE SHOWJUMPING - 16/03/08

Class 1 (2'9) Team - Katie Heath, Steph Cliffe, Ruth Hollinshead and Helen Graham (HC). Unfortunately Ruth withdrew during the warming in as she found Mabel was lame. Team was not placed but came 5th overall at the end of the Winter League. Well done! Ben Davies, who has competed with the team could not be there today so a thank you to him aswell.

Class 2 Team  - Georgia Ellwood, Nick Sparkes, Zoe McLellan, Ciara McLellan. The team were placed 4th in yesterday’s event, which put them 6th overall for the 2007/08 Winter League – which was excellent bearing in mind all were new, apart from Georgia.  Well done everyone!  Ciara stepped in, as there was no class 1 team and we have been on a team of three for the last couple of events – well done Ciara for getting round both courses on your first class 2 event!

Georgia came 2nd individually too on Magic.

Class 4 Open Team - Jenny Shaw, Laura Atkinson and Lauren Card. Only 3 teams competed and we came 2nd. Individually, Lauren came 1st and Jenny came 3rd. Overall at the end of the Winter League we tied for 2nd place with Cheshire Hunt North. Well done girls! Thanks also to Helen Dunning who couldn't be here today.

Class 5 Dengie Open - Only Jenny Shaw competed and came 2nd which qualified her for the Championship on 29th March at Moreton Morrell. Well done!

Crewe & District 3rd - 1281

Overall scores for the 2 rounds
East Cheshire 2781
North Staffs 2567
Crewe & District 2517

Well done to all the team for representing the club. As always they did a fantastic job and were a credit to us.
This was Estelle's first time representing the club at dressage, she had a enjoyable day with a good result of 5th individual, so well done Estelle.
Hannah & Katie also rode good tests with Hannah picking up 2nd individual in class 2, well done Hannah.
Unfortunately Zoë was unable to compete due to a mix up with the date of the competition, as all 4 scores count this meant we were awarded the lowest score by a competitor on the day minus another 5 points.

The final leg is on Saturday 19th April 2pm, at Alsager E.C.
